If the result of the x-ray is not clear you may also be asked to give a sputum sample (phlegm coughed up from your lungs).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">If you&#8217;re tested that you do not have TB, you\u2019ll be given a certificate that is valid for 6 months from the date of your x-ray. You need to include this certificate with your UK visa application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"who-does-not-need-to-be-tested\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: #ffc773; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Who does not need to be tested<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">You will not need to provide a TB test if any of the following apply:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">If you are a diplomat accredited to the UK.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">If you are a returning UK resident and have not been away for more than 2 years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: #b8b6b6; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">If you lived for at least 6 months in a country where TB screening is not required by the UK, and you\u2019ve been away from that country for no more than 6 months.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"children\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: #ffc773;\">Children<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Children must see a clinician who will decide if they required a chest x-ray or not. Normally children under 11 will not have a chest x-ray.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You must complete a health questionnaire with an<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/tb-test-visa\/countries-where-you-need-a-tb-test-to-enter-the-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">approved clinic<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. The clinician will decide your child does not have TB and they will issue you a certificate. You need to include this certificate with your child\u2019s UK visa application.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"pregnant-women\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: #ffc773;\">Pregnant women<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">You can decide any of the following options:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">an x-ray with an extra shield to protect you and your unborn child in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">a sputum test (phlegm coughed up from your lungs) &#8211; there may be an extra fee and you could wait up to 8 weeks for results.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">to wait until after delivery.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you do not wish to be TB tested, you can use an x-ray taken within the last 3 months at an approved UK screening clinic or test center. You can ask a clinician at an<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/tb-test-visa\/countries-where-you-need-a-tb-test-to-enter-the-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">approved clinic<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">to review your x-ray.
