If you have issued a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS<\/abbr>) or a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS<\/abbr>) and the sponsored employee or student has not yet applied for a visa.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The employee or student will still be able to make visa application even if the COS or CAS become invalid.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Home office will not automatically refuse visa applications even if the start date for the course or employment stated on the CoS<\/abbr>\u00a0or\u00a0CAS<\/abbr> may have changed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Home office will accept a COS or CAS even if they become invalid because of the employee or student was unable to travel due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Home office will consider each application on a case by case basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re sponsoring an employee who\u2019s waiting for their Tier 2 or 5 visa application to be decided<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Employers may allow employees to start work before their visa application has been decided if:<\/p>\n
