Travel to the UK: Countries & territories with a quarantine exemption
As per the Coronavirus regulation, if you are travelling to UK from a country outside the common travel area you must self-isolate for 14 days.
The UK government introduced travel corridor exemptions for some countries and territories with quarantine exemption.
You may not have to self-isolated for 14 days when you arrive in the UK from one of the countries or territories listed below.
- Covered by the travel corridor exemption
- If you are travelling from within the common travel area (Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man)
- If you are arriving the UK from British Overseas Territories
You will need to self-isolate if you visited or transit through a country that is not on the list in the 14 days before you arrive in England. This is applicable to all travel to the UK, by train, ferry, coach, air or any other route.
You must complete a passenger locator form before your arrival in the UK and must present on your arrival in the UK. This applies to both visitors and UK residents. These border rules will kept under review and reintroduce self-isolation requirements time by time.
There are a small number of groups of people who are exempt from UK border rules.
Countries and territories exempted from 14 days self-isolation on arrival in the UK
Unless you have visited or made a transit stop in any other country or territory in the preceding 14 days, you don’t need to self–isolate when you arrive in England from the following countries and territories:
