UK opens a new international student immigration routes
As detailed in the immigration rules laid in British Parliament on 10 September 2020, from 5 October 2020, the UK open a new Student route and Child Student route onto the best and brightest international students from across the globe.
These new immigration routes treat both international students and those from Europe coming to study in the UK after the transition period ends. There will not be any limit on the number of international students who can come to the UK for studies under the new immigration route.
Students will require a total of 70 points to be eligible to granted leave to enter (a student visa). Applicants can achieve the required points if they can demonstrate that they have an offer from an approved educational institution, required Engish language skills, and are able to financially support themselves during their studies in the UK.
UK will retain the brightest and the best students to continue to contribute to the UK economy by granting a post-study work option launching from the summer of 2021. This post-study visa route will allow those who have successfully completed a degree at a UK Higher Education provider to stay in the UK for two years (three years for Ph.D. graduates) and work at any skill level, and an option to switch into work visa routes if you find a suitable job.
